West Loop Halloween Bar Crawl 2026
Randolph and Lake, on Saturday October 24 and Saturday October 31. Eight venues in 2025, two of them at the same Lake Street address, and the last door window ran to 2am. The only one of our six routes where you can get a proper meal halfway through the night.
A free welcome shot when you check in. One drink token for every stop on your route. Your wristband covers the door at each stop during that stop's published window. 21+ with valid government-issued photo ID.

Why West Loop
Food
The route runs down Randolph and Lake, which is the one stretch of this city where stopping to eat at eleven at night improves the crawl rather than ending it. Nobody finishes a five-hour crawl well on an empty stomach, and this is the only route where the fix is on the way to the next stop.
Two bars at one address
In 2025 both Reading Room and Grapes & Grains sat at 858 W Lake St, which means two rooms, two crowds and no walk between them.
The latest close of the 2025 routes
Reading Room's 2025 wristband window ran to 2am, against a route that otherwise wrapped at eleven. The 2025 crawl ran 6pm to 11pm from Good Night John Boy, 905 W Randolph St.

Three rooms on Randolph, two at one Lake Street address, and one each on Peoria, Ogden and Couch Place. Reading Room's 2am door was the outlier that gave the route a late end.

The 2025 drink specials, as published
Verbatim from our own 2025 listing. Those prices were open to anyone in the room. They are worth having and we negotiate them, but they are not what your ticket buys.
What changes for 2026
Every special gets its own start and end time, published separately from the door window. Reading Room held a door to 2am in 2025 and nothing on this page should ever have let a reader read a discounted drink into that. A drink price and an open door are two different clocks, and running them together is how a venue gets its licence looked at.
Your ticket buys the welcome shot, a token at each stop and the door. Everything above belongs to the bar.
The list
The lineup, and when it locks
The 2026 West Loop route, every address, every door window and every drink special window publish on a date we name in advance. From that date the list is locked.
If a venue drops out after the lock date
We tell every ticket holder by text and email within 24 hours, name the replacement, and you can transfer your ticket to another Crawlloween night or to another person at no cost.
The 2025 roster above is published as history, so you can see what a locked list looks like before you spend money on one.
